Default I blame prophecies for noob builds

Just the way it's structured with the skill quests and secondary professions. You think at first these are good skills your getting from quests. why else would we be getting them? and your all excited. hell I had conjure phantasm on my ranger for a long time lol.. admit it you did too!!

I remember doing a mission, noticing we were killing soooo slow.. and asked for some build pings. I was frightened by what I saw but you can't blame them, the game showed them the way lol.

It would have been better if the secondary skills you got better fit your class, like a warrior/ele would get shock, but a ranger/ele doing the same quest would get conjure. That would take a lot of rewriting but till then. The warrior MM's and monks with backfire shall always grace our presence. smiling, waving...

I wouldn't say that I would say Factions created a lot of bad players.I find Prophecies has the best over players.

I will admit my Proph Ranger ran around using Conjure Phantasm until Kryta, then I got in a big debate on whether I shoulda switched to Phantom Pain. XD

Oh well, that was back when I was 'turded.

I admit that secondary profession skill quests should give more useful skills, though many classes don't use secondary professions for more than one or two skills and I doubt ANet will go back to Proph - they abandoned us!

Um... sure?
"Noob builds" happen because the first possible elite you can get comes in the (correct me if I'm wrong) Crystal Desert.
So that is 2/3 of the game you have almost not "super-duper" build.

And just to make you Ursan Hippies happy..........
you can't get Ursanway unless you get GWEN

Just look at the build the warrior has on the original prophecies box. Hamstorm ownzzz rite? I finished prophecies with a horrible n/mo blood build but I wonder how much better Factions and Nightfall are at giving people experience? I'd wager that they're just as bad though Factions is probably a bit better. Nightfall doesn't really give you much to learn as far as I'm concerned.

To be honest, when I started playing, I did have some random skills on my bar - in Pre. Once I hit post, and discovered there were these things called runes, I focused on two attributes, and was actually apprehensive about using anything from my secondary. Yeah, skill choices were limited, but I was always trying to make the best out of what I had available to me.

It certainly isn't the skills available that make noob builds, it's all about the player.

People ran sub-par builds in Prophecies. Who cared though, because life was awesome.

You didn't need to mix-max a setup to fight mobs that could 1-shot you. You didn't need to think about setting up a tank to block that group of 30 mobs.

I know I ran a Mesmer with FoC at least once, and with SigofJudge and inscriptions after that. And it was hilarious, because you could.

Both of those (or at least frenzy) are still used a lot in PvP.

I miss not having skill quests in any of the subsequent campaigns as an alternative means of getting some of them. The game lost a little bit imho when it simply said "buy them."

I dont think skill quests of all things have anything to do with bad players or bad builds. Inexperience causes that. That, or lack of caring. Certainly skills quests dont cause it.

i miss back in the day when healing sig waste obtainable by everyone...

*not like i'd use it, but those were the days. it was great when your build didn't matter as long as you were having fun and trying your hardest.

i miss when necros had an army of minions... not 12.
most priceless moment was when you saw a necro with 24 bone horrors and 6 bone fiends.

I wouldn't say that I can prove this but I believe those who entered GW early on before factions before the wiki told us what and how to play actually learned the game.

There was little to go on it was take the skills offered and try them out then repeat and repeat with classes builds and so on.

The current generation of players see what has been done what builds are currently popular and do the same.
Ok I know I am assuming all players do that but I feel its hard not to copy stuff already working.

Design your Party according to what you see others doing use what secondary others use with your primary, buy what weapon type wiki says to use.
Like what others like and Deride what others deride and so it goes on.

Prophesies isn't to blame nor the skill nerfs nor Ursans blessing, what is to blame is some peoples lazy attitude to gaming they want to miss out all the hard work and go from noob to God walking amongst mortals by the fastest and easiest rout and God help anyone or anything that gets in the way.

Prophesies gave you reasonable skills to start with it was up to you to use them or find others.
If they gave you the best skills what on earth would entice you to change build or look for more skills

I remember using a N/E with flare, fireball, life siphon and some mm skills. And spending points in 3or more attributes(I wasn't 20lvl yet.) Yea, I was a noob~lol. But, as Avarre say, life was easy back in prophecies.

I love prophecies tho. People were helpful and enthusiastic. People spent times improving the builds. (Now, people just ping their bar and run that or bye). They love the story. (At least I am. I shouted out "I know he is a bad guy" when I see the betray of lich lord. )

I miss prophecies. Let me make a new character.

PS. And yea, there was no guildwiki guide for mission or pvxwiki back then.
